I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the Book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse, of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must admit that such conjecture is futile. Still, questions about whose hands might one day hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know my apprehensions might never be allayed, and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written. -- Atrus

Handheld Myst Device -- I mean, Myst on iPhone

A lot of Myst has been going on in my personal sphere.  During winter break I re-read Myst: the Book of Ti'ana and it had me worked up into a mad state.  No matter how many times I read that book it is just as painful as it was the first time.  I want so badly to climb into the pages and slap Aitrus and Veovis so they realize before it is too late that they've both been framed.  It drives me crazy!  I tried hard not to read it too fast because I didn't want to get to the tragic parts, yet I still wanted to finish reading.  It's a strange relationship I have with that book.

Also, since I am finally starting to get furniture for my apartment (not sleeping on the floor anymore!), I have begun planning where I am going to hang my Myst posters/maps.  I have the map of D'ni that came from the first edition hardcover of Myst: the Book of Ti'ana, like several other people do, but I also have a tiny collection of maps and charts from Uru (printed from the Internet haha!!) such as the Teledahn map, the Pod Ages map, the chart on D'ni time, and a Minkata chart.  These I plan to frame and hang with my D'ni map. Very exciting!  And eventually I will get the rest of my Myst stuff here and I can hang my lithographs from Myst V: End of Ages Limited Edition.  I suppose my apartment will be turning into Kadish's gallery.  That would be glorious!

My phone has been slowly falling apart more and more each day.  I think I've had it four years now, and I finally decided it was high time for an upgrade.  But to WHAT?  I had been avoiding iPhones like the plague because they are so expensive, but when I checked my eligibility iPhone 5 was spread out before me like a Thanksgiving feast!  Now, I could have selected any phone and would have been happy with it it.  BUT, there was one that had two important qualities others did not: it plays Myst and comes in yellow!

Yeps!  I finally joined the rest of society and jumped on the iPhone 5 train.  The first thing I did, even before activating, was download Myst and Riven.  Priorities, you know.  I was still chatting on my old phone while doing a quick trial of my new handheld Myst device.  Life is very exciting.

Myst on iPhone 5

So many other Cyan games to play, too!!!
And of course I consider these additions to be part of a Myst collection...different formats, collect them all!  Unfortunately for me, realMyst is available only on iPad (so far!), but that's ok because soon we are getting RealMyst Masterpiece Edition, and that makes me feel warm and squishy inside.  I know people are getting impatient (yes, you are), but happiness will come to us when it gets here.  Apparently, the word "soon" has been equated with "a few days" or "later this week" by some.  Tsk tsk.  You can't constrain the abstract within finite boundaries.  That is my "wit and wisdom of Willy Wonka" for the day.

Myst aside, as with my shiny new PC with Windows 8, my attention has been fixated on how I will personalize my beautiful new yellow phone.  While grand plans for layout have not yet formed in my little brain, I was gleeful when I found Myst and Riven tiles on my phone!

Myst and Riven tiles!  I'm tickled!
If I was excited about that, I was downright elated when I had the brilliant idea for a lock screen wallpaper!
I have the best ideas ever!
Beautiful!  Beautiful!  The elegant Moiety dagger!  I plan on getting a tattoo of this in the future.  A simpler form of the dagger, of course.  That way when the uprising begins they will know whose side I am on!

I know I whine about Apple stuff, mostly because everyone has it and it's outrageously expensive, but I have always enjoyed my iPod, which is 4th generation I think.  Dear me...how old does that make it?  It's yellow, too!  iPhone 5 is definitely luxurious, and I think I can drive the point home by explaining that my old phone has only 3 megapixels.  That's 5 fewer than the iPhone.  I mean, it's like a completely different era!  We all know how quickly technology improves nowadays.

I still can't stand Macs though.  Even less so now that I am cruising around with Windows 8 (which I love -- although I am confused why they changed perfectly good minor features with the recent update).

So now I am delighted to have two more things distract me throughout my day, and a couple of games to play until RMME comes out and until freakin' local_character can climb out from under his rock and play Uru again!

It's been a murderously long time, and it is difficult to find time to play because he is now going to school the same as me, and we live half a country away from each other, which means different time zones.  The time zones aren't really a big deal since it is only an hour's difference, but when it's 9:30 his time, to me it's nearly 11pm and I have to get to sleep soon while he still has almost 3 hours until midnight!  The psychology behind it is very complicated.

He had gotten a little farther in Kadish Tolesa last time (however long ago that was!) and had gotten past the lighted floor with the spiral staircase (umm...puzzle 2 I guess you could call it).  Currently, he is very close to solving the lighted floor leading to the room with the weights and pillars.  I am hoping we can log back on soon.

HAHA!  Soon.
